Our Team
Anney
Executive Director
Hello! My name is Anney Tripp, and I am the Executive Director here at Tenney Preschool and Childcare. I’m an Early Childhood Education graduate through Madison College, hold memberships with NAEYC and WECA, and represent Region 2 on the Board of Directors for WCCAA.
I began working with children and families when I was 12 years old after taking a babysitting course at the hospital and becoming a parent helper. Nearly 30 years later and my passion for supporting families, young children, and community has only deepened.
Building strong, supportive relationships is at the heart of my practice - with an emphasis on mutual respect, collaboration, and curiosity. My focus is on meeting people where they are at with a strengths-based approach, using creativity and encouragement as everyday tools. I believe in children as capable people who positively contribute to our society, and I carry an innate urge to help protect these precious early years. My philosophy fits within an intentionally planned, play-based curiosity approach, using the environment as a fellow teacher, and children’s individual developmental goals to help guide teaching plans.
As a family cooperative preschool with a community-based mission, we have the honor of working alongside families in unique and meaningful ways that transcend the typical preschool experience. It’s an incredible opportunity to build a beautiful support system for the benefit of all people in our school community, and beyond.
Community building is foundational for me in my leadership role here at Tenney, and in my volunteer roles as co-founder, facilitator, and emcee of Viroqua Area Pride (2019-current), entertainment coordinator for La Crosse Pride (2014-2019), and during my time as a volunteer radio host for a legacy radio show called Hersong on WDRT 91.9 FM in Viroqua (2015-2020).
I’m looking forward to connecting with you!
Julie
Caterpillar Room
Hi there! I’m Julie, one of the lead teachers in Caterpillar Class and current Tenney Staff Representative and Board Member.
My journey into teaching began in 2010, when I transitioned from being a stay-at-home mom to teaching half-days at my daughters’ school, Luther Memorial Preschool. When LMP closed in June 2015, I was fortunate to find Tenney—and it’s been my home ever since. After more than 10 wonderful years here, I can truly say Tenney feels like family. I’ve loved building connections with children, families, and staff in this special community—it’s a hidden gem among Madison preschools! As a teacher,
I believe children thrive in hands-on, play-based environments where curiosity leads the way. You’ll often find us exploring the outdoors, tending the garden we started together, or creating art with natural “loose parts” like leaves, stones, and twigs we’ve collected. The Caterpillar Class spends much of our day outdoors—nature is an essential part of how we learn and grow. Nothing compares to watching a child’s face light up at the sight of a new sprout or a crawling caterpillar.
Every day our classroom is filled with laughter, discovery, and creativity—and I feel truly grateful to be part of each child’s learning journey. Come join us!
Noa
Caterpillar Room
Hi, I’m Ms. Noa! I joined the Tenney team in May of 2024 & have been working with children for over 8 years, earning my Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2023 from Madison College.
My passion lies in nurturing curious, creative minds, especially those between the ages of 2 and 9—and I’m currently planning to return to school to pursue a dual certification/Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Special Education.
My teaching style is inspired by nature, art, and the unique interests of each child. Whether we’re exploring the outdoors, diving into a painting project, or building an activity around a child’s favorite story or toy, I love creating hands-on experiences that spark joy and learning. Outside the classroom, I live with my wonderful wife, Autumn, our two lovable dogs (Dexter and Sophie), and our mischievous cat Juniper. A lifelong Madison local, I enjoy the vibrant community here and take every chance I get to camp, hike, or simply soak up the Wisconsin sunshine. I’m so excited to grow and learn alongside your little ones!
Amber
Rainbow Room
Howdy! I’m Amber and I have been working with children in a variety of settings for most of my adult life. These settings include teaching swimming lessons, lifeguarding, tutoring ASL for middle school aged children, and working with children ages 2-9 here at Tenney for nearly 4 years. I have a background in ASL, hold a Lead Teaching Credential, and have a learning background in sociology. I love hands on learning, play-based curriculum, exploring the natural world, and supporting children’s interests.
When I’m not teaching, I play roller derby, work on my Mazda Miata, trail skate, go to concerts, and take good care of my wonderful cat-son, Artie.
